Day 5 - December 14 - Bavaria

Time is going too fast! How can it already be our fourth day in Europe! Ron is off on errands, including having the tire pressure checked, as we had a warning light saying it was low. Turned out it was just something with calibration. The VW dealer where Ron stopped fixed it at no charge.

We went into Bad Aibling and walked around - beautiful blue skies, beautiful shops and cafes....

We went to the Schlossbrauerei Maxlrain (very near the kaserne) for lunch.

It has turned into quite a nice place and even hosts an old car rally which attracts over 20,000 visitors each year. This year its claim to fame is that the brewery was voted the number one brewery in all of Germany for 2012.

Ron had pumpkin soup - a beautiful presentation, followed by Bavarian duck.
Again I was stymied with too much pork on the menu and ordered what I thought would be a vegetarian risotto with mushrooms. Neither Ron nor I realized the word "wildpflanzerl" meant patties made of deer meat. There were three huge ones atop the risotto, which was a shock!

We drove to Rosenheim, a large city of over 60,000 residents, which is the "county seat". Walked around the Christmas market, had a wine in a wine bar.  Bought baguette, cheese, salami, and butter at Tengelmanns.

We returned to our hotel and settled into the "lounge" area on our floor where we could access the Internet. Made up baguettes with our purchases from Tengelmanns, and those "sandwiches" hit the spot!
