Day 9 - December 18- Snow in Garmisch

As we were having our morning tea and coffee, fat flakes of snow began falling and continued for several hours. We had a quiet morning. Ron prepared roasted figs with goat cheese. The broiler was not very efficient, and the cheese didn't melt well after at least 15-minutes - and we had no oil to drizzle - but it was good anyway...

Ron went out to do errands, check on his telephone not working, look at rental cars, pick up newspapers, etc. The clouds had settled into the valley, and things weren't quite so pretty. There was a small market going on in the pedestrian zone.

Roasting chestnuts - smell so good, but strange taste to us

We had all of our meals "at home". Early evening we went out to the grocery store and then stopped at the beautiful little Hotel Staudacherhof, where we had a beverage and listened to an accordion player. The daughter-in-law of the original owner came around to welcome us. She had her two young children in tow - learning the hospitality business when they are "knee-high".

We hope for nicer weather tomorrow so we can venture further afield.
